Dr. Cornelia Maetschke-Biersack

Attorney-at-law and partner, studied law in Munich and St. Gallen, Switzerland. Following her PhD in comparative law, including a research stay in Boston, USA, she completed her legal traineeship (Referendariat) in Düsseldorf. Dr Maetschke-Biersack is a certified specialist lawyer in family law (Fachanwältin für Familienrecht) and a mediator.

From 2008 onwards (since 2021 as a partner), Dr Maetschke-Biersack worked at Taylor Wessing PartG mbB in Düsseldorf in the Private Clients department, before joining PONTES Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater PartG mbB in September 2026.

Dr Maetschke-Biersack´s work focuses on the negotiation and structuring of marital agreements with corporate and cross-border elements, as well as separation and divorce settlement agreements in the context of out-of-court dispute resolution. In addition, she advises high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurial families on all aspects of estate planning and business succession – both by way of anticipated succession through lifetime gifts and testamentary dispositions. Again, her focus is on matters with a cross-border element.

Since 2024, Dr Maetschke-Biersack has been a member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), the world’s leading network of family law practitioners specialising in cross-border matters. Dr Maetschke-Biersack also practises as a mediator.
